New SB Live! drivers

New SB Live! drivers

Creative SB Live v5.12.01.3511 Series Drivers For Windows (All Platforms, Even XP)

http://www.electic.com/download/down...i?v=1003508734

---------------

ok... so here's the thing. I see this update on cd-rw.org and go and download it. I expected to find a loan exe sitting in the zip file when I opened it, but instead I found a whole crap load of shit.

how do i install this driver update? is it as simple as right clicking on one of the ini files and choosing "install"? and if so, which one(s)?

According to the official SB site, there are no drivers for XP yet. I think i will wait until they are released officialy.

I'm not logged in as admin, but here goes:

Control Panel => System => Hardware tab => Device Manager => Sound, video and game... => Creative SB Live!... Properties => Driver tab => Update Driver

Pick the bottom-most option and point to where you extract it.

Who's your daddy?

Sny?

It'll be most definetly one of the .ini files. If you can tell which one is correct for your version of Windows based on the filenames, open 'em in Notepad, and the version info is usually the very first thing in the driver.

Well I had already looked through the ini's and saw all the version numbers and what not, but I don't know which one is mine do you know how to figure that out?

if anyone needs to see what files are in it, just download the zip on that site i linked to.

[edit]
sawg and asshole. i could kiss you. but i wont. I can't believe i didn't think of that. I mean I've updated drivers before, but this time it just didn't click.

thanks for your help ya'll

It won't be an ini file. It will be an inf file.

They messed up my sound on some mp3's and in some games i have too. Screeches and pops n'clicks during the mp3's, particularly if the pc was busy. Restoring the old drivers from the cd didn't help any either so i had to do a system restore. Will probably work fine for some people and not for others as always seems to be the way

Well I got WinXP and it works fine after i installed. I wish I knew what was new with these drivers. The mp3s sound good, no pops clicks, etc.

How To Install (WinXP):
Start, Control Panel, Printers And Other Hardware, Where it says See Also: click on System, Hardware Tab, Device Manager, Sound, video and game controllers, right click SB Live!(WDM), click on update driver, choose install from a specific location, uncheck search removable media, check include this location in search, browse to where unzip those files at, then click next and winxp will install the drivers then restart your computer

And if the drivers dont work for you(WinXP):
Start, Control Panel, Printers And Other Hardware, Where it says See Also: click on System, Hardware Tab, Device Manager, Sound, video and game controllers, right click SB Live!(WDM), click on properties. then click on driver tab, then click on rollback driver, and it will go back to the original drivers that came with winxp.

Those pops and clicks happened with me on win2k after i installed the win2k drivers. Using anythign like AVS made a horrible noise.
