Removing ID3 tags

I am having trouble removing the ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags for some mp3's. I can't even edit them! The file isn't read-only nor hidden. It's only archive. When I try to remove an ID3v1 tag, I uncheck the "ID3v1 Tag" and click Update, but it doesn't remove the tag. Again, this problem is only for some mp3 files. I can remove some, but for some reason, I'm unable to remove others. The songs aren't copyright nor read-only either. Any solutions?

Windows version? Win2k/XP maybe?
Do these files happen to be hi-lighted at the time in Windows Explorer?

Win2000 Professional.

No, the file isn't highlighted in Windows Explorer.

Does Winamp show the tag is gone but some tag info still shows up?

Get a Lyrics3 editor: http://www.hiker.org.il/lyrics.htm

No, the tag doesn't come off. After I try to remove the tag and click Update, it goes back with no changes. The tag is still there.

That may be able to remove the Id3v1 tags. I don't know whether or not it'll leave the Id3v2's intact though.

They must be write protected somehow?
In the ID3 Editor (alt+3), does it say CRC's = yes ?
Either that or they're corrupted or something.

Try a seperate tag editor, such as MPTagger or Dr.Tag. They can edit both ID3 v1 and v2 tags - see if they work.

Like my photography? Buy some here....

Okay MPTagger worked, but why couldn't I remove the tags manually? What's the problem?
