"failed to create m_lpDDSImageHW"
when trying to start smoke i get the above error ("failed to create m_lpDDSImageHW (error #88760091)"). it happens in windowed and fullscreen modes. i'm using win XP with old POS on-board intel video, p2-550, 128mb memory.
milkdrop runs, as does geiss, which leads me to believe it's not neccessarily because my video is so inferior. |

Am expert on this but I beleive that the m_lpDDSImageHW is to do with the grid size. This is changable in the config box.
In the Smoke config turn down the grid size value for Fullscreen and windowed to as low as they go 64 windowed (if 1 to 1 ratio is on) and 64*48 fullscreen and try again. Also in the Misc. Settings tick the debug info and run Smoke again. Also try changing the particle trails on and off in Praticles section of the config. The multiple screeen layers that the paricles appear to create may be a problem. Then post what is in the C:\s_debug.txt to this thread and we will take a look. Fletch,
I made some changes that should correct the problem, if indeed it is correctable. Check out Milkdrop 1.03 beta 2 at http://www.geisswerks.com/vis_smoke.dll; hopefully this will do the trick. Cheers, Ryan |
