Winamp (MediaPlayer) ?

OK, so here's my understanding of what's up with beta 2 (flame me for ignorance if you want, I don't care):
  • 8-bit alpha blending against other windows in win2k and XP. Not for 9x/ME. Woo Hoo!
  • The winshade is activated by a button right now (not doubleclick).
  • Config Menu (thank the lord).
  • Minimize to System Tray
  • a video playback component. 100% optional and uninstallable, so don't start screaming "bloat". (Not Beta 2, but sooner or later)

Now the thing that interests me most is the "video playback component". I'd love to use Winamp as my default media player (we could call it Winamp MediaPlayer, or WAMP, and I'd have coined the phrase first! ) Does "video playback component" (from Whats happening in the development of beta 2? thread on page 2) mean that it will be able to play video files like I think it will? I'd love to see Nullsoft's own video playback engine as opposed to using the core of WMP or Real's piece of junk (like other 3rd part plugins for WA2).

as far as i can tell, it uses WMP's directshow filters for video playback. And I certainly cannot get a video to play back without skipping right now. Of course, that could be probe sapping all my cpu time up, the new one, while looking the shitz, takes up a lot of cpu.
