In winamp 2.77 I tried to play a .wav file that doesn't work but in the ealier version it did work. This is what it says when I try to play the file :
Unable to start playback. Missing codec or unsupported format. I downloaded the full version btw ![]() Cheers Michael

Does it play in WMP okay?
If so, goto file properties and find out the format. If it's an MP3 layered WAV, simply change the extension to MP3. If it's an 8 or 24 or 32-bit file, goto: Winamp Prefs -> Input -> Nullsoft Waveform Decoder (in_wave.dll) -> config, Checkmark the relevant option to convert to 16-bit. Otherwise, you need to install the relevant system codec to support this format. |

@DJEgg: that error message happens only when file can't be recognized as one of supported formats, or ACM drivers are missing (AKA "couldn't find destination format").
there is a known bug in v2.77 in_wave WAV header parser, get updated plugin now. |

... so messing with in_wave options won't help if that error shows.
