Tragedy I witnessed

I cruised thru the Sonique2 forums for once and it was a mess. I must say that the Winamp forums show much more class. In the Sonique forums they find ways to flame people that say they like sonique. It’s funny to listen to them.

Their explanation for Sonique2 being better is that Winamp3 takes too long to load and is buggy as hell. Well I must say that they are probably comparing alpha 1 to Sonique Alpha 1.4 or something.

The purpose of this post is to tell you guys that I am actually impressed that we possess of much better attitude than the people on the Sonique forum and I would like to commend everyone for keeping the flaming really low to almost none lately.

Work in Progress

the forums have been getting much better recently... wonder if it's due to the ending of WolfieD, Neo, and Illusion

if so, we need to ban some more ppl

I don't believe in banning people, in fact I think it's pointless and dictatorial.
my 2 cents.

[EDIT]
(And... WolfieD and Neo were not responisble for a lot of flaming, if quality has improved it's not due to banning them)

I think alot of it has to do with the fact that we have all come together as a whole. We are a wonderful group of people here!

Agreed. All healthy organizations, during times of crisis, have an ability to reorganize themselves.

Well, even though I'm new here, these forums seem to have quite a high quality of posting, and seem fun, and... stuff. Coconutty.

Wild guess here. I think Thor must have missed the WolfieD and NeoRenegade incidents.

It seems that I've spent the last week justifying this, but here goes

What you, and others don't seem to realise is that we have been doing exactly as you said with Neo for the pst six months. An offensive post would be made, if necessary a mod (usually myself or Twilightseer) would edit it, and a warning would be issued to Neo. I have been asking Neo to grow up since I've been a member here.

99% of the time a quick warning is all that is needed. I've received e-mails from members thanking me for bringing a problem to their attention, as they hadn't interpreted it that way.

But in rare cases, a warning letter isn't enough. And this was the case with Neo - as bad and all as he is, he'll even admit to that himself. "I've said that before when I was warned, and didn't think much of it. Faced with the reality now, and the knowledge that I can be banned for life with the snap of a finger, I'm resolved to change".

I don't like the idea of banning people any more than you do, but it's an extreme measure, and anyone that has been banned has been given more than their fair share of chances previous to the banning. Any job you go into in life, you'll be given a set of rules, usually along the lines of three verbal warnings, a written warning, disciplinary committee, suspension, and termination of employment. To keep some kind of order in the forums, these rules must also apply here, because if they didn't, the 1% that are prone to screwing up would have no incentive not to do so.

maybe it is because of the colors

sounds weird, but darkness looks a lot like underground

and these light colors seems like business....

I think the forums were getting better before they started screwing around... its still getting better

i've stoped flaming people too

there's been no sonique people abusing winamp lately so thats prolly why...
that gets me so worked up

i've been here a long time as have other people.. these up's and downs happen quite readily(well in my mind anyway)
