genre limited
I'm a newbie to this forum but I've been using WinAmp for 2 years or so. My only 'complaint' is that the ID3 tag 'genre' list needs more items. I have a folder of MP3s that contains a variety of music that aren't easily categorized. Maybe it's my fault...I like to tag the genre of the music the same name as the folder the music is in. Hence, all items in the 'rock' folder are ID3 tagged as genre:rock-all the jazz stuff is in the jazz folder and ID tagged as genre:jazz. You get the idea.
I'd like to have the music in the 'miscellaneous'folder tagged as genre:miscellaneous or simply 'misc'. A tag of 'various' or 'variety' instead of miscellaneous would be fine too. I can type in the word 'misc' on IDv2 but it won't copy it to IDv1 and neither WinAmp nor WinMediaPlayer can read it as misc. I'd appreciate your considering adding the genre designation of 'miscellaneous' (or 'misc') or 'various' or 'variety'. If there's a way I can change this to what I want in WinAmp I'd like suggestions. Is there some way I can edit the genre to indicate a miscellaneous category? If there is I'd really like to know. The closest I can get now is the designation of genre ther so, being the praagmatist that I am I've renamed the 'misc' folder to 'other'but, I'm looking for a better way. Please help me if you can thanks, see ya' later cutbait P.S. What is a signature? How are they used? |

That's due to the ID3 v1 format. There are actually a set of genres that are defined. Each one has a specific number. You cannot simply type in a genre, because it couldn't be written into the file.
What do you mean "signature"? Are you talking about the forum signature? It's just some text and/or UBB code that gets stuck at the end of your posts. Just like an email signature. For the freedom to express myself in my own way without fear of being censored or banned.47 65 6C 61 65 64 2E 63 6F 6D 00 |
