I could have sworn that virii was acceptable. Encarta doesn't have it though...

deathhazre!

You damn near killed me with that pic! I haven't laughed that hard since seeing the look on the face of the guy in college who INSISTED that I get him the phone number of the girl who sat next to me in my Psych 202 class...

... the pre-op trans!

The night he came back... Well, I got cramps from laughing so hard.

I know, why would you want to laugh at someone less fortunate than you are. At least you have legs that work and let you run! Not cool amn.

But anyway, KaZaA and Morpheus are the same network (and practically the same program. lol) where you can download multiple *virii*. Virii and fungi are the same case where plruals end in an 'e' and viruses is more of an American word, and virii is more Canadian.

See what I'm listening too.

Oh boo hoo...

Ashamed?

Walk a mile in my shoes first. Political correctness my ass... You try being without the use of YOUR body from the floating ribs down for the years I had to go through it.

Then come back and tell me not to laugh at life's little sick jokes. I WAS ONE!

Get over yourself. If a so called handicapped person can come back from having his spine broken and re-learn to walk, ride a bike, screw, swim and with no feeling in his right leg to this day STILL be able to smile at anything, you need to get your judgmental attitude the hell out of my face!

And if this gets me flamed or booted, so be it. I won't be judged by ANYONE who doesn't know me.

"ii" is the latin plural, if I'm not mistaken. It's been around longer than either of our countries.

Virii = Viruses
Antennae = Antennas

As Phisherman said, you're not the only one. Since I don't see every thread, I'm bound to miss one now and then.

I can see why if people don't look at too deeply, it may seem funny to them, if they are an insensitive person. Basically what it is saying is, "Look, the retarded kid won the race, but he's still a retard. So he's still a loser". Ha ha, how very funny.

Why am I so touchy about this subject? I had the opportunity to work with some handicapped kids at the Higginsville Habilitation Center in Higginsville, Missouri. They are not losers. They are unique individuals like us. Wouldn't it be great to feel like a winner simply for getting a chance to compete? Those kids know that feeling. Most "normal" kids don't. They have been conditioned to believe that there isn't any point in playing if you can't win.

This particular child in the picture has Downs Syndrome. Downs Syndrome children are very caring and loving kids. They are hard workers and go out of their way to please, by doing various household chores like vacuuming, etc. I have met many of these children, and in my mind, they are all winners.

I hate that picture the way it is captioned and used. I can promise you that anytime I see it, I will bitch about it. I can laugh at tasteless humor, but this picture has always crossed the line for me. So keep posting it if you want. That's your right. I'll keep bitching about it. That's my right.

I think in general it says more about the person who posted it, than the kid in the photo.

(Ikyoto, you are describing a different type of handicap. A terrible thing to go through, but in your case, curable. And how many people made fun of you while you were in this condition? I'm guessing not many. This poor kid's illness will last the rest of his life, he will always be the subject of ridicule by ignorant people. Sorry, the two are not the same thing. It's not really fair to compare them.)

I'll leave the virii vs viruses debate up to Radioctive Man. He makes some very good points on the subject.
