The U2 Problem

Here's riddle for you guys:

The band U2 has to be at a concert in exactly 17 minutes (in order to get an on-time bonus of $2 million). However the band has been hiking a mountain and although they are very close to the concert venue; before them stands an old rope bridge. On which only two members can cross at a time. It is night and since the bridge is unsafe, they have to share the one flashlight they have. How would the band get across on time if it takes, Bono 1 minute to cross each way, Edge 2 minutes each way, Adam 5 minutes each way, and Larry 10 minutes each way? Have fun and if you have already heard this before, please don't ruin it for the rest, thanks.

*only 2 at a time, nobody can carry anybody else*

Kill Larry for being too damn slow.

Seriously,

Edge and Bono cross-- Time = 2 minutes

Edge crosses back-- Time = 2 minutes

Adam and Larry cross-- Time = 10 minutes

Bono crosses back-- Time = 1 minute

Bono and Edge cross again-- Time = 2 minutes

Total time = 17 minutes

The way to the solution is to try to elimiante the slower two people from crossing more than once/seperately. By having them both cross at once, and only once, we save quite a bit of time.

But I'm feeling much better now.

wow what a clever way to get other people to do your math homework! change the names to members of a band and wait for someone to solve!

i got to try that with my physics:
if mick jagger (m=40kg) is on a frictionless plane on an angle of 37 degrees attached by a rope to keith richard (m=220kg) who is suspended over a pully......

Keith falls at 7.3849 m/s

assuming that's 37 from horizontal

Just remove the center pin from the pulley.

Lets use The Beatles.

John needs to write a paper (5 paragraphs) on Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle on how Kurt uses Religion, Science, and Government in his novel, and how he satirizes them.

What would John write?

I would reply, but it would probably offend a great many fans of John.
