My skin is gone!

Hello,

Some time ago, I posted my skin on this website. Finally I got a message that is was published. I was very excited and told all my friends. Then they started to tell me that they couldn't find my skin and so I tried it myself. Guess what? When I look for it, using the search thing, I get the message that no such skin was found. But when I go to my skin folder it still says published and I get a screenshot too. I wonder what is going on? Could someone please tell me?

Forget the name, please provide the component ID number of your skin, a 5 digit number that can be found by checking the edit link in your skin developer area.

Tell me that, and I'll tell you what the deal is.

Save this link, and you'll always be able to find your skin.

sigh

None of your solutions worked. :-(
Clicking 'go' instead of enter didn't work and the link doesn't either. It says that the site has had some major changes and the link doesn't work anymore, or something like that.

Oops, my fault, the link works ok, my mind didn't ;-)

I don't care what anyone says - the search function only works 30% of the time I try to use it

its best just to have the link handy like Wally say

If anyone can find any of the skins I made please email them to Forevever@aol.com
I can't remember all the names but specifically hunting for Lascivious, and DEVOUR (compilation with Jax) and any in the Impulse series which had 6 total. Auriferous, Gilt, Impulse, Nadir, and 2 others I can't remember but you dig.

It's all about the skinners and their 280 out of every 300 new skins posted. The search database works, but with so many files to sort through it just dies halfway through the search unless internet weather is particularly sunny.

Now THAT! makes sense - one more problem caused by an over abundance of bad skinner.exe skins.

all skinner skins should be burnt. and i do not really care about skip the dog either. if they want to see skip on their PC, they should make a wallpaper.

I have thought about this for the past year, and I had come up with a simple solution that would mean a lot of editing work for the winamp.com staff, but would pay off from lack of need to fix the site constantly.

1/. As skins are submitted, filter and spread apart "Homebrewed" skinner skins from Original works.

2/. Create a skins page for both, seperate, and easily divided.

3/. Alert skinners in their control panel that their skin was posted in certain page, say "homebrewed page 02", so that they could retrieve it.

The idea that winamp staff have been counciling me about is that winamp is a free-open community where a person who makes a skin about his dog is free to share it with others, and personally I think that is what makes winamp great. But the problem clearly is that so much skinner skins are being made that it grinds all useful and considered artistic aspects of winamp to a halt. If the editors would, for surely they can, differentiate between the two and put them in their respective boxes, then the entire winamp community on a whole would be pleased, and winamp would still keep it's policy of open acceptance of skins, be them skinamp-esq or mspainted.

At the moment we are busy moving all the skinners (and base skin adaptions) to the Generated category only. That will have to suffice, because I am utterly unwilling to go through them again to initiate a different system.
