it should be in #:/program files/winamp/skins

and try using the skin browser

alt+s

choose your skin and hit close and there it is

There is no need to unzip the .zip file.
Just place the .zip in the Winamp\skins dir
Open up Winamp and goto: main menu -> skins
and select it.

Where are my skins?

I've got much the same problem, guys. I downloaded several skins, yet cannot find them anywhere. I checked w/Alt+s, there's nothing in there but the base skin. Where can they have gotten to?

Thanks!

Where are my skins?: Solved!

I figured out where I went wrong! When I downloaded the skins, I was on IE, and for some reason, it doesn't give you a choice of where to put your files. I tried it with Netscape, and I got a dialogue box asking me where to put the file. I put it in c:/program files/winamp/skins...no problem. I used Alt+s, the skin browser came up, and lo and behold, there was my skin! Maybe that's WhiteDove's problem, huh?

Thanks!

Workarounds:

1) Windows Folder Options -> File Types tab:
WSZ File (Winamp extension installation) -> Advanced/Edit
Checkmark: confirm open after download

2) Empty IE internet cache. Maybe it's got too full or corrupted?
Close browser
IE desktop icon -> rt click -> Properties -> General tab
Temporary Internet Files -> delete

Also, check "settings" button.
Make sure cache size isn't set too large.

Thanks, DJEgg!

Thanks for the advice, DJEgg! I tried your suggestions, and then tried to download a skin using IE browser, and this time it worked! As soon as the download was finished, the player popped up w/its new skin.

Thanks again!
