Two problems in winamp all versions
Hi !
First : ----------- Problem with gracenote cddb : I have CDs of my own recording. It doesn't exist CDDB information about it. How to disable gracenote ? "I don't want to have when i listen my CDs on each track this message : CDDB(tm) Service brought to you by Gracenote, Querying... No matches found, We could'nt find a match for this disc. Would you like to submit a new disc ? Submit New or Cancel" I cancel but on each track it ask me that ! I abort, i close, but it is very painful. Second : -------- Sort of files when i open a list of files. All my mp3 is like that : Artist Name - XX - Track title XX start from 01 to 99 The big problem is : when i select a list of files, it is never sorted correctly. How to sort by file name and not by ID3 Tag ?? Thanks !

1) Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Plugins -> Input -> CD Plugin -> config:
Uncheck "use CDDB" 2) Playlist -> Misc button -> sort -> sort by filename (or path+filename) Or alternatively, disable ID3 tags in: Prefs -> Input -> MPEG Audio Decoder -> config -> title tab Or, change ID3 Title formatting to: track# - artist - title (%a - %1 - %2) |

Thank you for your answer but it is not satisfactory.
About using CDDB : Uncheck "Use CDDB" works. Thanks, but when i want to put a commercial CD i lose CDDB, i must return in Prefs>Pluggins>Input>config>.. I hope there will be a button to launch CDDB on the general panel (?) >1) Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Plugins -> Input -> CD Plugin -> config: >Uncheck "use CDDB" About sorting files : I have winamp 2.78c Playlist > Misc > sort by filename work but how to save this prefs definitively ? >2) Playlist -> Misc button -> sort -> sort by filename (or >path+filename) How to sort by default on filename, This doesn't work : (ok it does'nt use ID3 but it is sorted randomly. >Or alternatively, disable ID3 tags in: >Prefs -> Input -> MPEG Audio Decoder -> config -> title tab This doesn't work ! : >Or, change ID3 Title formatting to: track# - artist - title (%a - >%1 - %2) Thank for your help ! |

Sorry, but you're confusing me.
1) CDDB It's either on or off, there's nothing inbetween. You'll have to set it manually depending on whether it's a commercial or burned CD. It's only a few clicks away. But, if you're not happy with this, then post something in the wishlist forum, or use another CD Player which does what you want. I mean, I use CDSpectrum Pro, but I've still got to go into the options to turn CDDB on/off. 2) Sort options. Errmm . . . you've lost me totally. What works & what doesn't work? ![]() And in what way does it work or nor work exactly? Did you disable ID3 tags in MP3 plugin config? Are you using the Add button in the Playlist (recommended), or are you adding files/dir's via Explorer? Have you tried saving your playlist/s after you sort them? (List button -> Save) Are both "sort on load" and "read titles on load" selected in Prefs -> Options? |

>It's either on or off, there's nothing inbetween Ok. Thank you. I'll test CDSpectrum Pro. >2) Sort options. >Are you using the Add button in the Playlist (recommended), or are >you adding files/dir's via Explorer? It works when i use the Add Dir Button, thank you ! It doesn't work when i select a list of files in a folder with the windows explorer, i select the listand press enter. But nevermind it works fine with the Add button. ![]() Thank you ! |

Yeah, it's a known problem with Windows sorting by fat32 allocation.
There's even an entry for this in The Official Winamp 2x Bug List but I don't think there's much we can do about it, sad to say. Thank gawd for the Add button, eh ?!?! ![]() btw, CD Spectrum Pro isn't freeware. ![]() But you're right! There should be a main menu option somewhere to enable/disable CDDB, rather than havin' to go into the CD Plugin config each time. |
