DirectSound or WaveOut

which one of those plugins is better and what are the disadvantages & advantages of them?? they both work for me... j/w appreciate it

sawg, ME has no probs on DS output, at least as far as I have seen. Also it's better for my puter because the WAVs are amplified way too much, but with DS out, I can use Winamp's volume control

Sure, but DS uses more cpu processing than waveout in 98/me/whatever 9x thing.

I use Waveout almost all the time. I only use directsound when i need fast response time (when checking EQ settings or playing with DSP/Effects plugins).

i have the latest versions of both.. i installed that patch... but the DirectSound is like really soft.. i can hardly hear it... is this normal.. how do i increase its volume?
