Winamp makes pops PLEASE HELP
Ok every so often my mp3s make a popping sound, they are usually like 2 or 3 mintues apart but can vary either way. I tried all the tricks with different waveout buffers and blocksizes..everything. I also tried the new directsound files nothing seems to work. I found out that my usb was sharing irq 10 with my philips rythmin edge soundcard and i disabled the usb in my bios and in windows. that didnt help. my soundcard ha s a dedicated irq so thats not the prooblem. I am running windows2000 on a p3 550 w/192 ram. I tried all those clusters of links you guys post and i cant fix it. Can someone please help me?

![]() Okay, does this happen with all other players, eg. WMP, Real, etc? Have you made sure you've got the latest Win2k drivers for your soundcard? |

When I asked if it happens with other players, I wasn't referring to games, I meant do you get pops when you play an MP3 file in WMP or RealPlayer !?!?
Also, maybe some relevant system specs might help too. (CPU, motherboard, soundcard, videocard, DirectX version, etc) If the problem is with Winamp only, then: 1) Make sure pre-amp slider in the EQ window isn't up too high. 2) Make sure EQ sliders aren't up too high. (try turning EQ off to see if problem is related) 3) Disable any DSP/FX plugins, if you've installed any (Prefs -> Plugins -> DSP/FX -> select "none") Talking of extra 3rd-party plugins, have you installed any maybe? Particularly general purpose (gen_*.dll) or any replacement mp3 plugins (eg. in_mp3pro.dll, in_mad.dll, etc) |

Actually yes I do..And now i noticed it in games too, so its not just winamp. I have an intel p3@550mhz, an aopen AX6BC (intel chipset)motherboard, a pci philips rythmic edge soundcard, an aopen geforce 2 mx agp videocard, im running windows 2000 pro, and i have directx 8.1a. I know about equalizers and thats not the problem, i disabled it and its no different. The pop occurs mostly during mp3s. It rarely if ever occurs during the playback of audio cds(wav files). Any ideas?

yes i did, i updated my videocard drivers and my soundcard drivers. I tried to update my ide controller but its really complicated so i didnt. I doubt that would be a problem anyway. Its using the windows 2000 driver for it.
