HRH Princess Margaret.
HRH Princess Maragaret has passed away peacefully, as of today, the 9th of February.

Not taking anything away from this sad event for the people who know her and love her and all the rest. But it really bugs me how there is national grief for someone who hasn't done anything to reach their position. In that people obviously feel sorry for her and her family, but the news coverage of the Royals and of these type of events goes overboard trying to make people mourn for her. This goes back to my dislike and respect for the royal family but culminated in the Diana thing where people were more upset about Diana than their own family members dying. It's ridiculose, feel sorry and that but why should I feel more sorry than for someone who's died and not lead as wealthy a life and who I haven't been forced to know about? They've been given this birth right for no reason and people are overly upset for them. If people were upset about everyone who dies the world would come to a standstill and everyone would die of depression.
Sad event? yes. Do I really care anymore than anyone else who dies? no. "We think science is interesting and if you disagree, you can fuck off." |

I mostly agree with you Phily - it's sad for the family and everything and she did do charity work, so will be missed for that - but to look at it a different way she smoked lots, drank lots, and lived until 71 years old. Relatives of mine who lived similar lifestyles died in their sixties...

I have never heard of her either, and I do mostly agree with Phily Baby as well, but my condolences anyway. All human life is valuable and should always be respected.

yeah, i'm with Phily Baby on this one... really the royals are no better or worse than anybody else- there shouldn't be such a fuss kicked up about them. same goes for film/music stars, although if you liked what they did, you could be excused (it's not around any more)
i do feel a *little* guilty for yelling "freeloader" at princess anne's image in the pub at the rugby the other week. ah well. |
