Skipping when starting/stopping fullscreen visualization

Hi all.
I've been having problems making winamp work correctly in fullscreen visualization mode. When I tell a plug-in like Geiss to run in fullscreen, the song I'm listening to skips for about 2 seconds as the screen adjusts to the starting of the fullscreen visualization. After that, all is well until I hit escape to get out of the fullscreen mode, at which point the music skips again for another 2 seconds.
As for as I can tell, I'm only having the above problem. I'm tried using both directsound and waveout. I've adjusted the "buffer" to be much more than it was set at for its default. I've increased the prioriy of winamp and the plugin (then decreased upon reading that "normal" was recommended for best results). I think I've tried changing most everything, but to no avail. Can anyone help?

Operating System: Windows XP
Sound Card: SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum
Video Card: PNY GeForce 3 200 Ti
RAM: over 1 gig

Updates include latest Audigy XP drives, PNY drivers, that "W2update" thing that I've seen around, and latest version of winamp. I've looked at:
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....threadid=65296
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=72515

So far, nothing has worked. (In a previous installation of XP, I had the same problem, only changing the buffer size fixed it. That didn't fix the fullscreen visualization skipping this time, however.)
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.

All fullscreen plug-ins. I installed multiple plug-ins just to be sure, and uninstalled then reinstalled winamp just to be sure, also.

Try installing the latest video card drivers from the manufacturer's website, and the latest version of DirectX. If doing that doesn't help, then it's safe to say your video card or computer is just too slow to make a smooth transition into fullscreen mode.

I have the latest drivers for my Video card and Sound card. I'm using XP, so I have Direct X version 8.1. My computer is P4 1.6 gig. I have over 1 gig of RAM. I have a GeForce3 video card. Fullscreen visualization worked correctly before.
I think, therefore, that the issue is something else.

First of all, make sure both Winamp priority (Prefs -> Options) and Plugin priority (Prefs -> Plugins) are set to "normal".

Also try switching screen resolutions.
Maybe your current resoltion is incompatible?

You could also try adjusting the hardware acceleration setting in:
System Control Panel -> Performance tab -> Graphics (or whatever the XP eqiuv. is)

btw, with Geforce cards, sometimes the latest NVidia/Detonator drivers aren't always the best:

Don't use Nvidia Detonator drivers Ver 23.11 or 21.83 - use v21.81 instead.

Then again, this also could have something to do with the motherboard/bios/chipset. Check the manufacturer's site for updates/patches.

Hope some of this helps!

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately I've tried all of the suggestions and they haven't helped.
I was hoping my motherboard manufacturer might have some useful ideas, but no one seemed to be experiencing anything like me over there.

My motherboard: MSI ms6528 LE

And now, for some unknown reason, it works fine.
I changed the settings all over the place, but as far as I can tell, I changed them all back eventually. Why it works is a mystery to me, but I'm glad it's fixed.
Thanks to those who replied to my posts.
