CRC error...PLEASE HELP!

i keep getting a crc error when trying to install certain things, such as winamp 2.78. i just formatted my hard drive so i know there arent any viruses. other installers work, but that certain type does not. whats wrong here?

download winamp again without any extra downloader programs

and it should work fine

The assumption that reformatting gets rid of all viruses is totally invalid. They could have infected your boot sector and still reside on your computer.

Reformatting does NOT get rid of boot sector, memory or dos resident viruses.

You guys were right. There was a CIH virus in my boot sector. Actually, 202 files were infected. =) I used CIH cleaner from the link you provided. Everythings fine and dandy now. Thank you all for all your prompt and informative responses, i dont know what i wouldve done without it. Thanks a million.
