Does WinAmp support "Callback"?

It seems that winamp only provides the control and active retrieval interface for external applications or plugins. But, When the status of winamp has/will been changed, I can not get a notification in plugin passively. Another words, If i want to implement it, I must actively retieval the status continuously, which will cause lower efficiency. any better ways?
