right click on the file, goto properties, mark the "read only" box. when an mp3 is copyrighted you can still change the file name and the id3 tag, not if its read only though

that won't work

I know about that read only.. But like I said I had this one file I downloaded.. it's not readonly or any change in propeties.. when in winamp, i change the ID tag .. but on the comments area, it will reset to it's original after you click UPDATE TAG... the rest is okay, but only on the ID tag with show the website address of the place I downloaded.. as for the readonly thing.. i done that.. but if I upload to another computer, the readonly will uncheck. and of coarser you can uncheck it too if you know it's READ ONLY! I want to know a way you can't change the TAG after the first time you create that mp3 file. is there an ID tag programs that do this or not?

goto fileplanet look in the audio download stuff, then goto audio editers. the file you may want may be there should be there they usualy would have something like that, but you may have to wait in line, the pubic servers are usualy full.

What are you using to rip the songs with?
Most decent rippers (CDex, EAC, etc) have an option in the settings to copyright the MP3 before you encode it. You can't do it afterwards, only before.

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe this particular MP3 has a Lyrics3 tag? In which case you'll need to edit it with a Lyrics3 Editor. (Although, ID3v2 tags should take precedence over ID3v1/Lyrics3 tags).

Links to CDex, EAC, etc = here (at end of page)
ID3 Taggers = here
