Fatal Exception 0028: While playing audio cd's

Hi. I hope this is the right forum. I have been using Winamp for a long time now and never had any problems. I have version 2.78c. Winamp will play mp3's fine but the problem (that started out of the blue yesterday) that Iam having now is with Winamp playing audio cd's. When I put a audio cd in Winamp comes up and starts playing the first song. If I click on another song the big blue Fatal Exception OE screen comes up and I have to reboot. All of the numbers start with 0028:. After the 0028: I have seen ff05b7b1, ff05ad97, ff05b763, ff072603, ff072651. I have seen a couple of vxd errors mixed in with these blue screens. Instead of clicking the next song in the list I tried sliding the slider almost to the end of the song, but when the song finishes and it tries to go to the next song... up comes the big blue screen again. Some of my system is.... Win 98 Second Edition, 1.4ghz AMD Athlon, 228mb ram, Onboard SiS 7012 Audio Driver. Like I said before, Winamp has never gave me any problems playing CD's before. I can't think of anything I have changed or downloaded that would make Winamp do what it is doing. I can us the media player with windows 98 and it plays the cd's without the blue screen. I hope I have not rambled on too much. Any help would be apprciated.

update all your drivers.....

and install 'peter's winamp 2 update'(bottom of my post)
