.cda play, w/o sound. help?

Okay, I've just spent the last several hours dredging through these forums to figure out how to get my MP3s to work... now that I stumbled onto fixing that problem, my audio CDs won't play! Okay, they will play, but there's no sound. Updated sound card(awe64) driver, check. Downloaded & installed CDReader, check. Hunted forum threads like a starving chicken after worms, check. Tried playing audio cd with another player, check; works just fine, check. It plays, it tells me which song it's playing too... maybe the dog could hear it... cuz I sure can't.
Alright. I'm out of patience, out of humor, and out of sanity. Soon I'll have no fingernails left. So, if you could, please help me fix this, or put me out of my misery. I'm so not enjoying this.

Oh, and I'm using the newest 2.7whatever version of winamp, full version. Forgot to ad the part. dumba$$, check.

OK . . . you seem to have checked almost everything,
except for one thing....

Did you follow the instructions in the CDReader readme.txt which explains that you need to disable the default CD plugin so you can enable CDReader?

Close Winamp
In Windows Explorer, goto to the folder:
C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins
Rt click in_cdda.dll
Select: Rename
Change the name to in_cdda.dll.off

Repeat for in_cdda.cdb (change to in_cdda.cdb.off)

You'll need to make sure DLL files and file extensions are visible first.
Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab
(Folder Options are usually also accessible via: Start -> Settings, or in newer OS's via the Control Panel)
Uncheck: Hide extensions for known filetypes
Checkmark: Show hidden files and folders (or "show all files" under Win9x)

You will now be able to see in_cdda.dll in order to rename/disable it.

Reopen Winamp and try playing a CD.

Also, if you want Winamp to show the CD track titles:
Goto: Winamp Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Plugins -> Input -> CDReader -> config
In the CDDB tab, checkmark both "use internet cddb" and "use local cddb".
The CDDB address should be:
freedb.freedb.org:8880

Also make sure you've got the latest v1.95 of CDReader
(the version available at winamp.com/plugins is old & buggy)
