can u not have winamp read the ID3 tag?

in your playlist, how winamp reads and displays the id3 tag for each mp3 in your list...i was wondering since a lot of the id3s were screwed up (and i dont have time to um change them all?!) can i have winamp read just the name of the song, that u see in a normal windows folder rather than the id3 tag ?

yep - go to preferences (CTRL-P) -> plugins -> input -> nullsoft MPEG decoder -> configure -> uncheck the "use ID3v1/v2 tags" box.

Now reload your playlist.
