Winamp changes my color depth to 8 bits!!
As soon as I launch winamp it changes my color depth to 8 bits
any ideas why this is happening? thanks in advance |

first question...you have an older 3Dfx card in your system? (banshee voodoo1 or early voodoo2...great cards, but lots of early driver bugs similiar to what you describe)
what OS you running? what res and color depth do you normally run? what's your monitor refresh rate set at? does it happen when you run winamp alone or with a visualization plugin running? in the meantime, update your video driver and try it |

I run windows xp, usually set my color depth to 16 bits, and monitor runs at 800x600 pixels 60Hertz, my video card is a GeForce-256 and I am using the latest detonator drivers. Everything works fine.. but once I launch winamp, the monitor blacks out and comes back after a second or two with a color depth of 8 bits. While winamp is running, I can set the color depth back to 16 bits and everything works fine, but once I quit winamp and launch it again later on, the color depth goes back to 8bits. It's very annoying.. and I really don't want to use windows media player to play my mp3's
