March Madness!

Today, the NCAA BB Tourney starts.

In my school's brackets, I've got money riding on Duke and Maryland, so I hope they win.

In other news, in Mountain Dew's Don't Miss the Madness contest, I got a wild cap so it pretty much means I win in that

Any other NCAA freaks here? =)

most definetly, but duke has no chance up against IU
well ok, but Duke is the favorable pick here as well, with much of our groaning we accept IU will likely lose to Duke in their third game.

also gonzaga's seed is a bit of a surprise at 6th, especially their national rank compared to IU who has a 5th seed.

hah i just looked up some utah players, they're Mormons and a bit more balanced points wise than IU.

I was surprised at Gonzaga's 6th seed too. I've heard many opinions and most people I've heard from are also surprised. Everyone in my house is rooting for Gonzaga (because we've lived there and have family there) but I'm not so sure they'll get by Arizona.

I'm filling out my brackets right now and I'm going to enter them in at espn.com for my shot at $10,000. I never come close but you never know.

Last year, I got a Michigan State cap early in the tournament and hung onto it. Then before the final was played, I got a Florida cap. So all I had to do was wait for the game to be played to send in my cap. I never cared about wearing it but I thought it was cool to win it because the odds of winning were something like 1 in 400.

[edit]I was wrong. Michigan State beat Florida in 2000 not 2001.[/edit]

I think you've got some good choices, Phish. I wouldn't bet against either of those two teams. There could even be a Duke-Maryland final, which would guarantee you a win.

The university basketball here in Canada is better...

Canada's football system is better too... only three downs, and no fair catch.

MU BEAT UCLA 82-73!

this is shocking ALMOST everyone here in colubmia (missouri, for that matter) because mu was playing so incredibly badly towards the end of the season. i do believe (if memory serves) that mu is now the 1st 12-seed ever to make it to the elite 8....

I went to MU, I live in Kansas City, Missouri (the "real" Kansas City is NOT in Kansas), and I've always been a Tiger fan. Go Mizzou!!!

(And yes, they are the first #12 seed to make it to the "Elite 8".)

Kent's Going HOME!

IU Wins 81 - 69

it wasn't a huge upset like the duke game, and our pointguard, coverdale, being reinjured cooled the hoosier's celebration from a certain angle.

i just hope he can recover quickly by next week, it looks doubtful. there's much talent in freshman pointguard perry, but he's a bit dopey compared to the more experienced junior.
more disappointing for kent of course, to top it off they're losing 4 good players, 3 starting seniors. so much for next year

Lol, my friends are into that stuff too, but I could really care less for that NCAA stuff. Maybe if they start a pool I'll join and pick the underdog, then I'll win all their cash. :d Lol, you never know.

Hoosiers Upset Sooners, 73-64

IU pulls another upset over #2 seed Oklahoma. All "experts" predicted the OK Sooners to win the whole tourney. Now the winner of the Kansas/Maryland (both #1 seeds) game will have to face #5 seed IU Hoosiers who are 5-0 in the title game. No #5 seed has won a tourney.
Then again that's if IU can upset another #1 seed like they did to beat the Number One Team in the Country, Duke.

here's one of the first articles, all over the web are the same:

even though i played soccer for 8 years, i cannot stand watching it. it's too much back and forth passing in the midfield.
it's too long for goals, and just too long. that's why i don't like football. but i tend to like watching hockey due to fights.

i suck horribly at basketball, but LOVE watching it. i ended my soccer career with too many sprained ankles and sore achille's (sp?) tendons. to top that off, a severly torn hamstring requiring a quick under the knife appointment. i guess i burned myself out playing on up to 4 teams a year, practicing on 3 at one time.
