What sound card?

as some of you know a few weeks ago my sound card shat itself and i have been left for a few weeks without my precious mp3's.

i now have enough money to buy a new decent sound card and wonder what you guys and gals think is best...

1. Creative Labs Sound Blaster LIVE! Digital EntertainmentDE 5.1, 6 Channelsound

2. Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo II Digital PCI SoundCard , w/ Optical Digital-in & Out

mainly for playing songs but also for gaming.

I would go with the hercules sound card simply from all of the horror storys heard from Creative Soundblaster cards.

Id love to have a 5.1 card but its poinless due to my lack of a DVD drive.

there are older cards than the gamesurround that whoop the live! card's arse... the audigy is better, so unless you're referring to that, get the gamesurround. trust me.

My Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live is very good...top quality sound

I love the way I have to hex edit my Diamond MX300 Vortex2 soundcard drivers. Works beautifully after though

Depends which one you can get cheaper i guess...theyre both good quality sound cards...the live! is a little better for recording and comes with better software then the hurcules though.

yeah, that's what i have... it's better than the "live!" (i have that in my family computer) but not as good as the hercules, i hear.
