My station broadcasts right, but it is too messed up
I have been trying to setup my shoutcast radio station, everything is set up right, it works ok, i am able to get the server up and start the station, but right after i hit the play button to start broadcasting my computer starts lagging really bad and the music skips and messes up and when i click the stop button on winamp i have to wait several seconds before the computer will even notice i clicked the stop button, it won't let me do anything when it's playing, and i mainly only have the problem when the DSP plugin is up, i even have it set to send to my server at the lowest bandwidth level. My computer is 300mhz, it has 62mb or 64mb of RAM and I don't even know what kind of sound card it has. I am thinking that my soundcard might not be good enough, is that the problem or is something else causing it to lag like this? I was going to set up this computer as a Winamp Server and broadcaster to broadcast my station and host my website, but for me to host my Winamp station I need to fix this problem, i already tried listening to my station on another computer while things were all slow like this and it sounds terrible, it skips and jumps while i listen, and no, the connection is not the problem at all, there's something about my computer, but i need to know what it is so I can fix it, thanks
P.S. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT REFERRING ME TO LIVE365.com! I have had problems with them already, this is why I am switching to shoutcast, I had 365mb and I was only using 118mb, they STOLE all my free space! I am not paying for a stupid service that does that, so please help with this problem |

1/ I don't think 64 mb is enough to run a server, even a radio station like this. Have at least 256mb. Winamp isn't a small program. Try to run only winamp and see how it is.
2/ Upload speed. How fast is your upload speed? |

I definitely know it's not my connection, my connection's upload speed is probably about 30kb per second, I don't know exactly, but that's about it, I don't think it has to do with broadcasting at all, because for it to start messing up and lagging a lot like it was all I have to do is open the Shoutcast DSP program, and yes, it is the DSP plug-in alone, the server isn't going and the DSP plug-in is not connected for it to lag like this, with the DSP plugin open i play music in winamp and it starts slowing down a lot, with the server going and everything with the DSP plugin online it still does about the same thing, so something is up with the DSP winamp shoutcast plug-in, could someone tell me what is going on and what it's doing that when it's not even connected to any server or broadcasting? why does it lag so much from just being open with winamp and not doing anything?

i was thinking, maybe it has to do with my sound card, is there any kind of add-on that is meant for the broadcasters so they don't have to listen to the music playing? i don't care if i can hear the music on my computer, i mainly want other people to

To bypass the soundcard set your output plugin to Nullsoft NULL Output. This plugin should have been installed when you installed the SHOUTcast DSP.
To activate: Open Winamp > Ctrl + P > Output > Click on "Nullsoft NULL Output Plugin" Tom |
