Playlist, again

I would like to see ...
1. Relative Path Playlists
Sometimes i am moveing things to other directorys and then all gets screwed up. It would be could if there would be some "relative path" to the mp3s.

2. Playlists of Playlists
Something like a Book of playlists or such. When i am having lots of albums from the same artist, the i problably want to have all those albums visible when i want to here some tracks of that guy.

Next day i maybe don't want to listen to him anymore, so i would delete all his albums playlists, to prevent pulution of my playlist view. It would be coll if there where something like a set of playlists which could saved as a collection or book or how you're calling that?

Thats what i would like to see:
Saveable Sets of Playlists with relative path

1, so you want that winamp searches the disk until he founds the correct song, after you moved/deleted it?

2, Use the medialibrary for that, it isnt much hassle to add every album in a playlist of an artist... try it

No i would suggest a different solution to that problem, but since u wrote that rolleyes in your post, ... I really could start flaming on that MAJOR DUDE.

To your devense my first post was 'a bit' confused - err yes.

You're really don't have a clue from what i was talking about. I want playlists that could be in the root of a cd and they should have relative path attributes. So when i put a cd in drive d: and double click on a playlist it should work and when i put the cd in drive e: it should work too.

Well i dont want to use the media library. When i have 2 or 3 CD Rom Drives and i switch mp3 CDs in them constatly then the Medialibrary gets me nowhere. With the playlists of playlists Idea i could simply order the contens of a cd by several cathegories which i save as plofpl in the root of the cd. Its a ease of use and speed question.

Pal, I see no reason to start flaming! U made absolutely no reference or gave any indication that you were talking of CD Drives. I fact, U said in your first post that you wanted to "move to other directories". Now wouldn't that call for searching the entire drive/ disks?

Cheerios .... and keep the spirits good!

CD Drives are only one example. The same problem occurs when you move the files in different directorys or harddisks. So i generalized this 'act' as 'moveing things to other directorys'. I see no point why some mod should get sarcastic on that.

No not when you move that relative playlist in the same way as you move the mp3s. Thats what i'd like to see, thats the idea i was talking about.

Just to be sure I understand you, you want so that if you have
C:\MP3\1.mp3, and you save a playlist in C:\MP3, you want the m3u file to only link to "1.mp3" instead of "C:\MP3\1.mp3", correct?

If I'm interpretting you correctly, then WA2 will save the relative path. I'm assuming it'll be ported to WA3 eventually.

Playlist-in-playlist support is SUPPOSED to be implemented at some point, but when is anybody's guess.

Red face Great Ideas

I am relatively new to playlists because naigating directories in windows explorer is simple enough. However, to use Archos Mp3 player efficiently I will have to heavily get into playlist manipulation.

The first idea - add relative paths to a playlist - sounds good but it is not clear what do you mean by that.
CDROM example: Isn't it possible to specify a relative directory already? Like ".\Sade\By_Your_Side.mp3", so whatever drive your cdrom is in the playlist in "." (root) will always access it?
Moving files to other directory: How do you wish it to work? The most straightforward and simple way would be to remove these files from playlist and append them again after the files are moved. I don't see how this procedure can be improved.

Second idea - Playlists of Playlists - This is so useful and obvious I wonder why this hasn't been implemented yet. (or has it?)
