You can set winamp to not read ID3 tags.

Preferences (ctrl+p) > plugins > Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decoder, in the box that pops up click the title tab and untick the 'Use ID3v1/v2 tags....

Easier than re-typing 700 or so ID3 tags...

My fave program for editing ID3 tags is ID3-Tagit. It had a Windows Explorer-like interface and it has a multiple tag edit feature, which is what your looking for it seems.
