Bit Rate

Hi people, I have a question about bit rate. Im using a 56k external modem, IE, but I can only listen to radio stations that are 24bit or under, when I listen to anything over that it breaks up it sounds like the cd is jumping, also when listening at 24bit rate its not in sterio, any suggestions.

Your connection is too slow for anything over 24K. If you want to listen to higher bitrate stream you will need to get broadband (i.e. cable modem, dsl, etc.). As far as why they are only mono this is done on the broadcasters end and very few would broadcast 24kbps in stereo because there aren't enough bits to make it sound good so mono is chosen for quality reasons.
