As far as I know, the header is where all the ID3 info is found in the mp3 file (???). But I don't know for sure.

The length is well, um... self-evident (the length of the file, in seconds). So, if you do a little math you find that the example song is 4 minutes and 19 seconds long.

Someone else will have to tackle the frames thing... I have no idea.

Lastly, about "copyrighting", I think the file you tried to edit was read-only. That won't let you update the info. You have to turn that off in Windows (or whatever you're using).

The copyright tag is just a bit that can be set to on or off. It doesn't have anything to do with being able to copy or edit the file.

In fact, it's absolutely useless.

The header is the point at which the id3 tag is saved to the file (i.e. how many bytes from the beginning).

As the andrewski says, the length is self-evident.

The bitrate is how many kps the file is encoded at (it can't be altered at runtime, only encode time). The amount of frames is to do with the data in the file (kind of like frames of a film).

I have a question about making a mp3.

Why does CDex 1.40 writes the header at 1044 bytes, and CDex 1.30 at 0 bytes? Is this of no importance or how can you change this?

Thanks

it uses a more modern version of lame that adds the "LAME Tag" at the beginning of the track.

Use the 1.50 betas, they are very stable.

But the place of the header doesn't have an effect on the quality of the mp3?
