The first of probably many, American internet stations,
forced off the air for now, by this decision...

Tag's Trance Trip says goodbye

one of our very good Shoutcast stations.

Look for more to close their doors or try a subscription based service. There just isn't any income in internet radio yet/now to cover all the costs.

this totally sucks, its going to shut down every radio station that actually has enough listeners to get charged bc there is no income for streaming music over the net.

On the other hand if i stream music i get an average of 4 listeners (my max) so thats .028 cent charge an hour

My question is why does the music industry attempt to stop all new technology every way they possible can? If they can shut down sharing of information they do it. But internet radio doesn't really do anything except promote artists so i don't understand why they are getting all pissy about it. They should either make a legit way for this stuff to happen, or just let it bc they can't shut down things like gnutella (althought that requires you to know what you want). They just can't stop technology as much as they try. Ironicly I've boughten much more cds bc of their exposure to me from file sharing programs and streams. So really don't understand why they are fighting what can help them so much.

Because even the record companies cannot justify you buying an MP3 off them for £5, whereas if you bought the same record as a CD single from the shop, that is what it would cost you.

Royalties have never worked for England.
How are they going to work for internet radio?

The RIAA and the Recording Companies are NOT trying to stop technology.
Don't be mislead by what you hear.
They're trying to CONTROL it.
It's all about greed and control.
These rates are exactly what the RIAA wanted.
This will force all internet radio stations off the air,
EXCEPT a few that can comply, by paying this ransom money to the
RIAA and Record Companies.
They in turn will have TOTAL control over what the stations play.
Sound familiar?...just listen to the garbage on any AM or FM station.

And if your'e sitting there thinking:
"This doesn't effect me...I don't listen to internet radio anyway...
I'm happy trying to get the biggest mp3 playlist on the block"...
you need to wake up!

This is also about freedom of choice!!!
Something we supposedly hold dear to our heart.
Something we yell with great pride, we have here in America.
Well...another part of that freedom you take for granted,
has just been taken away from YOU.

The people who broadcast these stations CHOOSE to do so,
of their own free will...for the love of the music they have...
and that freedom has been taken away from THEM.
I CHOOSE to listen to them,
of my own free will...for the love of the music I have...
and that freedom has been taken away from ME.

The RIAA is on a roll...and you need to realize it.
I can only pray that someday, we'll wake up to what is REALLY...
going on here.

Hmm. On a related note, copyright law says that a radio station can play ANY song they want. They don't even need permission. Yet the RIAA says they can't...
