Rest in peace, Lain (Rodney O. Lain, that is...)

A Mac advocate committed suicide, and the whole Mac community is in mourning.

Read the story. Whatever your view is on the Mac, the dedication like Lain's is a rare thing nowadays, and is to be admired.

Yes, all six of them.

I, too, thought our Lain had put a gun to her head. Griffinn you ass! You and your little thread-title ploys...

Sad to hear the guy died, tho.

Sorry if that has caused any unnecessary spikes of blood pressure... although I'm quite sure the lame title would be better-received if it were somebody else, e.g. sim0n__sez.

You're dearly loved in these forums, Lain.

It's always sad when someone dies, even mroe sad when they take their own life.

I sympathize with his family.

If Bill Gates shot himself tomorrow, woudl you lot all mourn the man who bought accessibility in PCs to most of you?

I was thinking about that when replying. It wasn't all him that brought accessibility. Several others were in the project to create a system that everyone can use. He was the founder of Microsoft. It would affect me indirectly, but not directly by using his own masterminded software.

you can't possibly have that much money and have gotten it illegaly. there would be way too much intrest in your cash, and you would have shitloads of people looking at your records. so either he's the worlds best money launder or hes a hell of a business man. I think he is a hell of a business man. and if he did kill himself, I would be sort of upset, because he proved to nerds everywhere that you can become rich beyond your wildest dreams.

He got that money half legitamately... but he is more of a corporate raider than a business man.

Gates is more likely to be shot by somebody rather than by himself. Remember the Pie in the face incident? That could have been a bullet instead of delicious, scrumptious lemon creme.

Exactly. I consider strong arm tactics to be neither good enterpreneurship, nor fully legitimate. It's possible to be a crook without actually stealing anything.
