Broadcasting 2 different sources???
Hi,
we're currently sending 2 live mp3streams (high&low bitrate) of our regular (antenna) program over the net. (By connecting our PC running the SC DSP-plugin to a normal radio via line-in) Shoutcast server is running on two different machines... What we's like to do is: - put up an additional internetstream, which sends repetitions of previous broadcasts (they are already in mp3 format) using the same PC which already has the SC DSP-Plugin running. Because the number of listeners to repetitions is smaller, we can run the shoutcast server on this machine as well. But how can we feed the local server with a source??? (Winamp is already sending the line-in signal) Can we run a second instance of winamp (sending the mp3s to localhost)? Or is there another WINDOWS program which we could use to send the mp3 files randomly to the local SC server??? Thanks in advance for your help... Peter |

2 SOURCES
Hi and thanks for the quick help,
obviously I wrote the post a little unclear. 1. We have enough (3) PCs for running the SC server... (actually we are already broadcasting in two different bitrates) 2. The problem is, we have only one PC for sending the source. We are currently sending the line-in signal in two different Bitrates. We'd like to send an additional stream of mp3s residing at the source computer. So we don't need two instances of the server, but of the shoutcast DSP-plugin (or another program that can send shuffled mp3s from a directory to a SC server.) Thanks for your help, Peter |

Or to make the problem even more clear:
How can one send a live broadcast from Line-In to SC server A PLUS Stream mp3 or wav files which are in the directory "C:\my music" to SC server B? The servers ARE NOT the problem; the problem is that we are trying to send two DIFFERENT broadcasts from one PC (not just different bitrates!) Thanks again, Peter |

windows media encoder-this allows you to stream live while you record your program-just make sure you have enough disk space-because a live broadcasting program-archiving itsself will slow the hell out of your computer, and make you run out of disk space quickly-
the good thing about windows media encoder-is it works with line in as well as webcam-so you could have the poor dj on the net while he broadcasts live lol email me if you have any questions or find it hard to find it. it is free(pending the eula) btw. but let me clarify-you can broadcast while archiving or you can just do a live broadcast-or you can record for a later broadcast from your webserver(not a stream well yes a stream, but strait from your server) |

Thank you for the reply,
but obviously my English is a little inadequate to explain the problem. Let me try again: Basically we want to make TWO UNRELATED broadcasts from one PC concurrently. We have two shoutcast SERVERS available. We want to feed them with DIFFERENT signals. One server will be fed from the line-in of the soundcard, the other one from a directory on the SAME PC! The question is: How can we send these two source signals AT THE SAME TIME from ONE PC? I'd appreciate any comments, Peter P.S.: Can't we just use winamp as a source for one server (the SC DSP-plugin can encode line-in) and run another instance of winamp or simply another program to feed server 2 with mp3 files from the harddisk? Do you know any WINDOWS programs that can stream TO a shoutcast SERVER and doesn't need winamo? |

and as i posted-yes you can, you just have to play with windows media encoder- you dont NEED another shoutcast server to broadcast with WME-you just need WME-and yes it lets you stream files off your hard drive-holy jeeze o peets dude-you can stream and winamp will pick it up-all your listenenrs have to do is goto your link

btw:
I dont think windows will let you run two instances of the same program. try this- Copy your full winamp.exe file and winamp program file paste it into a new folder-name it winamp 2-and rename the winamp exe file to winamp2 and configure the dspplugin and server files to stream of your playlist-or line in, whatever you want to do. but youll have to get 2 winamps to run at once and this is not an easy task (and ural-your english is just fine thankyou) |

Good idea
Hi again,
that's a good idea to copy winamp to a different folder and rename it. I gave it a try, but when I start the studio2.exe it realizes that studio.exe is already running and just puts the first instance of winamp into the foreground... But it was a good idea; maybe I can run Winamp 3 Beta and winamp 2.8 simultaneously... I'll keep you updated if it works... Thanks, Peter |

multiple instances of winamp
Go to winamp options, click allow multiple instances.
You can now open more than one winamp, then in the shoutcast plugin, choose winamp as the source instead of line in for your mp3. |

or, run winamp on the shoutcast server if it's a windows machine.

Stupid me...
Oh shit,
it's that easy... just have to check "allow multiple instances"... I tried etiennefb's suggestion and... it works... Thanks a lot, this really helps us out... |
