still cant get outside connections on dsl
I still cant recieve connections to my computer through my dsl modem, my isp says its a software issue for which they wont help, useing the radio tool box i get the following response after setting up port forwarding in the modem control panel...
=================== 65.161.32.39:8000 is Closed Reason Given: Connection refused More about this error: This essentially means that the port is open to the internet but has no services associated with it. There is no firewall protection on this port. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- my dynamic ip is allways somthing like 208.10.xxx.xxx i get an local ip of 10.0.0.x radio toolbox shows that 65.161.xx.xx i only have the ability to set a port up as tcp or udp, i dont have a both option and have to enter the port twice to have both... setting up 8000 and 8001 both ways i still get the same response from the radio tool box.... do i need to set up other ports too?

To see what your real IP is go to: http://grc.com/default.htm then click: ShieldsUP! then: Test My Shields !
That IP will be your real IP. If it doesn't match what radiotoolbox detects try setting Yport to 666 in sc_serv.ini/sc_serv.conf and then restart the DNAS. Tom |

hello Tom...
On Steve's site going in the front door, (url), it shows my dynamicly allocated ip from my isp, useing his ip agent it shows my machine ip which is set to the 10.0.0.x group, the radio toolbox always shows 65.161.32.39 no matter what my internal ip or dynamicly assigned ip are.
I played around with the Yport and still no luck. it seems there should be an easy work around to get incoming to be redirected to my machine ip, since my dynamic ip is mine alone the same as if it was a dial up modem, that ip is my external adsl modem router, then the machine is the 10.0.0.x and the madsl modem has a config set of screens, I played in there for the port forwarding setting them up a number of ways, and no luck yet. Useing No-IP.org to get my web page link to forward, it finds my dynamicly allocated ip with no problems the same as useing Steve's site without the IP Agent, for example the 208.10.179.xxx. As I am seeing now this seems to be an increasing problem and area of need to resolve for the shoutcast server, since more and more people are getting adsl for its ability to reach beyond the 18,000 foot limits. I have no problems connecting to the dialup machine to listen with the dsl machine but the other way is a no go... I have 6 pc's right here, a couple lans, and phone lines and a dsl, so I have a lot of ability to tweak and tinker and monitor and test, dsl is new to me, thats my only shortfall, im in the sticks and its been a long wait to get it... I have the time and the equiptment to play with, so if there may be a couple people that can comunicate with me here, we may be able to get over a few problem areas to help a lot of shoutcast users... |

Got it to work...
I got outside connections in to recieve the stream now, for others with adsl modem routers, I found that the DMZ needs to be set to the michine running the server, then save and reboot, after that set up port forwarding, I have a dynamic ip from my isp, but my modem steals the ip since its a router type modem, so port forwarding alone wont do it and assiging a static ip on the local machine wont do it, but the DMZ did the trick, by enabling DMZ and giving it the machine or local ip...
Since DQ Visionnet is so sweet as to give a bunch of useless propoganda for FAQ and user manual, which amounts to nothing more then sales hype, and totaly useless meaningless info, and a help file with even less than nothing in it... The modem is a good one BUT, plan on writting your own manual as you go if you need to get one of these things.... DQ Visionnet 200 E/R and E/S.... Not all dsl modems will be as bad hooking up, this is an adsl ehter router modem, and has built in to it an admin interface utility and bios with no information other then just enough to connect a single pc and view a web page... the standard modem cant do the lan without a router hub or a hub and router setup, and would take alittle more work in doing if you leave everything dynamic, so its wise to set the lan up static, or everytime time you reboot you got to do it all again... As for what DMZ stands, I can only say in Nam it was called the De-Militarized Zone, that was the place where all the armies were doing all the shooting and bombing, and it seems the dsl modem is not much different, all the bombs land there, you got to catch them and send them other places... Tom and the rest of you guys, DQ Visionnet FLUNKS the $2 user manual test, and should be sent to visit this forum for about 5 years to see if they can learn how to offer a usefull hint...... Anyway Tom, I still cant get past the rebuffering after 2 minutes of connect,,,, I put the stream buffers up and down on both ends and still no improvement,,,, over 15 to 20 minutes the lag gets so far behind its crazy then it catches up and cuts 5 to 10 minutes out so its back to 2 minutes.....(Ill put this part in a different topic so if there is a fix others can see easy too) |
