In theory it should, eventually, but I've never managed to get any of the RC builds installed on a win95 box, the same issues as yourself, crashing on the installer.

The recommended platform is Windows 98 or higher.

yeah, I get this error too
but winamp3 rc2 does run on my 95b nevertheless
who cares about that installer?
you just have to create the start menu entry manually

does it run on your 95 mr. jones?
which 95 version do you have exactly?

I'm running Windows NT, and I keep getting a studio.exe error when I load Winamp3. It will say no entry point found, then Winamp will load, but once I try to play any music file it crashes. How do I get around this problem.

If you get Entry Point Errors you must have installed a previous Winamp3 over the latest Winamp3. Earlier .wac plugins won't work with this version of Winamp3. Best suggestion is to uninstall Winamp3 completely, and do a fresh install of the latest Winamp3 to alleviate these errors. Hopefully that stops these studio.exe problems like crashing.
Its also mentioned in the Winamp3 FAQ at the top of this forum.

Just a suggestion . . . maybe worth trying ?!?!

Preferences -> Audio -> Uncheck "Enable DirectSound Output"

Basically, WinNT has very poor DirectX/DirectSound support.

As for Win95 . . . I managed to get it to run (very badly) on Win95c (OSR 2.5) but, since then, I've given my old P2 comp away to a friend, and I hope never to see Win95 ever again, LOL
Good luck! You're gonna need it... though I suppose it all depends on what type of system Win95 & WA3 is installed on (mobo, cpu, ram, sound/video cards, etc)

Working! But not the Final :-(

I had every single one of the betas running beautifully on 95B, but now in the final, they've built an OS check right into the Installer.

I can't get my lovely Winamp3!! Help!

I'm stuck with the last Winamp PreRelease Beta. It works great. If a beta is working well, I don't see why the final shouldn't; they haven't changed that much have they?

I think instead of having the installer pop up a message saying that Winamp does not support Windows 95, they should pop one up saying simply that it is not recommended you install it.

Does anyone know a possible workaround or registry hack etc. that would fool the installer into letting me get the program? I know that Winamp DOES wok on Windows 95, and if it wasn't for the silly check in the installer I would be happily playing my mp3's right now

P.S.: If anyone knows which registry Item winamp looks at to determine the os, or of a program to moniter calls to the registry please let me know!

Here's the reg key you are looking for.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Version identifying string values:

Name=Version
Data=Windows 98

Name=VersionNumber
Data=4.10.2222

Name=ProductName
Data=Microsoft Windows 98
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

If you are connected to the internet using Win95, there is a massive security hole which would allow someone to access your computer remotely.
