Hey people, maybe I'm very lucky but I've not seen BOOM crushed on my PC, on any version of winamp. I'm using RC2, and it works perfectly. Strange.........

yay...it works flawlessly on 482! I've tried everything to get it to crash lol. OMG what a skin!
GREAT job you two!..I love it!Now the only minor gripe I have about the desktop alpha/dropshadow is a bit overdone when using the skin onlight backgrounds. - imo it should be "thinner" and not so noticeable. But as I said...just a minor thing. |

yes #482 works fine but i can't deactivate desktop alpha without having a big box in the background (fake desktop background)
and some are cut in the skin, like the screenshot from kiilu. but skin is very cool

as for the boundaries that look weird is because of the fake desktop alpha: if you have a dark background set the three slidebars at the left end (0,0,0) it will look nice. as for the button... WAIT !!

ok, i have make a picture of the bug in 482.
sice i found there the fake desktop i use this, because the skin looks good enouth with fake desktop and its better for the cpu, but at 482 there were the bug with the cutting parts without desktop alpha see: o_0 |

(like WA3 )

Yep, the skin doesn't work for me either. I get the same error love_rohit2k does. I'm using rc2. It works in every other skin.

Well done, lads ...
I don't pay too many compliments on these forums, normally because i don't see that much stuff which impresses me. There tend to be a lot of screenshots knocking about of ideas which people have for skins, and it's patently obvious that 95% of them will never end up being anything more than a .PNG file. Many of these ideas show design ability which is much better than mine (I'm essentially just a coder who likes to fiddle with Photoshop to break the monotony), but nevertheless a pretty .PNG file is just a pretty .PNG file.
I'm very pleased, therefore, to see the dedication of both Adil and Willfisher shining through to produce a skin of real quality. It looks lovely, does everything you're likely to want it to, and not much that you don't want it to. As someone who has fiddled with MAKI quite a bit, I should point out that there must have been a huge amount of work going into the coding on this project. I'd also like to say that it's very frustrating trying to hit the moving target that is winamp 3 at the moment. No sooner do you think you've cracked something, the API changes and you're back to the donkey and cart. I know many people have had problems with bugs in BOOM, but personally I'm impressed that it even works at all, such is the complexity of some of the stuff that Willfisher has done here. So lay off the poor lad. =) As for the design, again, the attention to detail is superb. Just little things like the power port on the underside of the player when it docks and undocks make such a big difference. The size is sensible; you can scale it down significantly and it's still usable. Few people would have bothered going to the trouble of designing a whole box and fake polystyrene carton complete with accessories, just for it to be displayed for a fraction of a second. And you two don't seem to have succumbed to the temptation of releasing it before it's finished, either. Everything is skinned; the preferences work perfectly; there's a manual (and i mean a proper manual which fits the design of the rest of the skin, not just a hurriedly-knocked-together text file); etc., etc., etc. I've said enough. Sterling work, fellas. DJG P.S. willfisher: how did you do that circular seeker ? =p |

nicely said my man.. forgotten your name..
i really like the screen on BooM ... with all those glowing it's really cool... but... somehow i think it's a waste of effort if there's only a few stuff on it. it will be really cool if the thinger and eq is in it. there will be a button controlling them something like sonique. i also think the dock mode should have the close, minimise button. when v1.1 comin out?

uh yeah, two are the best, i give up my skin, because i was not able to code it and gonzothek haven't make all, i have had do the rest and i'am not a coder or i didn't understand what he would say to me
but there are many better skins (BOOM is the best ) so don't worry about my unfinished skin. i should make wa2 skins without coding great tougether-working adil and willfisher that with the minimize button is a god idea, and i think you can link the BOOM logo on the docked player with the thinger ![]() and don't vorget the 3 buttons for the pl, eq & ml

I'm glad you guys enjoy boom as much as Will and I do.
kiilu, that idea with the screen is very interesting, I'm thinking of some cool screen elements to add in the future... VOODOOpower, your buttons are not a bad idea... but the undocked player is supposed to be realistic.. the real player wouldn't have those buttons... I dunno if I shouldn't be starting boom 2.0 after the final release of wa3 ![]() wait.. you want the next boom to be realistic too or more.. uhm like with buttons everywhere? |

uh, there were a real BOOM player, don't see it before
BOOM company?? ok if you won't add these buttons because of the realistic, then add a ml & pl link to the right click menu (eq is already there) (i mean not right click, windows,...; only right click) o_0 |

EDIT: nonsense Vodoo, if u wanna display component windows all around your player, can't you just dock it back... it would take lot of desk space anyway... Good ideas though, we might use them. Last edited by Adil; 24th July 2002 at 12:05. |

same bug
hi
this is rohit here. last time i posted a bug that was giving error on changing the skin to boom while playing the song. i got the reply by namessis that it is winamp3 bug. then i updated it to build 482 from build 479. but now excuse me! that bug was not occuring for any other skin. Now what might be the reason? i tested again. when i said that i switch skin to boom WHILE PLAYING THE SONG, it does man that song was being played OK with earlier skin. waiting for reply |
