Message if skin wont be published?
It seems that it has been 4 to 6 weeks since I gave in my skin for publishing. My skin is not my original creation but I did put substantial work into it, made it a lot better, in my opinion, created an AVS window from scratch that didn't exist, and credited the original artist in my submission and the readme file.
I never claimed that it was my original work but I never got an email saying it was regected for whatever reason. Does everyone get an email whether or not a skin is accepted or regected? |

you'll get an e-mail saying your skin was either published or rejected. and there's a huge backlog right now so its more like 6-8 weeks if not longer

OK, let's say I do that, then how do I attach this information to my submission? Also, without heading to the back of the line?

Well, that sucks moosecocks. So you're saying this guy: http://www.winamp.com/skins/browse.jhtml;$sessionid$IUPJABEN4NFZHTN241HBCYY (skin search: WildAmp), Simo Apell, who was published for his modified WildAmp, got Francesco's permission even though he says in his readme, and I quote, 'I didn't inform him in any way.' What's up with that?

I don't want to report him. I don't think it's a rip. I think he made a legitimate effort to improve/change the existing skin and he credited the original author. That's fine in my book. I just have a gripe that the judging isn't consistent, since the guy a few posts up tells me I won't get published if I don't have the author's permission and this guy didn't and did get published.

Sometimes rips get through. With 50,000+ skins in the db its impossible to know them all. However, if while reviewing, i came across a skin with components of another skin that i had seen before, and there was no mention that there was permission from the original author, then i would reject it for being a rip.
If it did get through, and someone else spotted it, and reported it in the rip removal forum, then it would have to be removed. If you have permission from the original author, then a note of it in the skins description and/or the readme.txt goes a long way to ensuring your skin will stay published. |

You'll need to email the author saying you love her/his skin and ask her/him if s/he will allow you to do a mod of it. Then attach that email - with header - into your readme.txt AND make a note of it in your skin comments. This will ensure that you'll have no troubles with it now or later - both from staff reviewers and from public reviewers who might be tempted to call your skin a rip and give it 0 stars. There have been instances here where someone had permission, but didn't show it, and their skin was taken off a year after publishing or so because someone spotted it as what they thought was a rip.
