I've attached the text.bmp from template amp. That should help.

If you want the complete template you can find it here:

the easy way is to color right over the bitmap

You'll find it easier to draw it by hand. I know it sounds like it would be a lot harder, but its not.

Anyways, if you have found a font that fits, and still looks good, the last few symbols are ÅÖ¤ theres also a smaller A, but i cant find a corresponding symbol.

To use the extra symbols open up charachter map. It should be in start > program files > accessories > system tools.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone have a good text.bmp, and by that I mean better than the standard one? N-log has a nice one, and Steve Moss seems to have done one or two good ones, so I know it's possible, but I have a hard time making one that looks good.

That is true, but sometimes you can make some pretty damn good texts on your own, like I did for Fridge Amp. That's why everybody likes Nlog's and Scorpion Skin's text.bmps.

Actually, I've done that in the past
The results looked ok, I was just wondering if there was a way to make a better one.

I've never really bothered with making custom txt.bmp's. Most of the time i just trace over the one in the base skin. I did start drawing a new one by hand for after midnight, but some of the letters didnt fit.

only really made a new text.bmp once, cause I needed it to be one pixel smaller, usually I just trace the one of another skin, though sometimes I make small changes, For ali Larter Blue Heaven I changed the dollar sign to a pound sign, and for my clone trooper skin which I'm working on now, I changed it to an Euro sign

I usually change the text, the base skin's is just, boring, I guess.

Because I'm so bored, I attached a .gif with various texts.. just copy, paste, and change the colors.

I changed the text in my 1001 skin to make it look more like the font used on the site. And I've often changed the fonts a bit here, a bit there. Sometimes I add a tiny texture to them to make them look more matte. Even if I don't change the fonts, I usually change those ugly-arse ninja star things that winamp uses as a text separator.

I recommend Skinner's Atlas when changing the fonts, it makes it a lot easier.
