Thanku kindly Aeroe......Things seem to b workin now..with a bit of fiddlin.
There seems 2 b just about every kind of codec in this pack, just 1 file off just under 9MB.
If any1 else is havin codec probs, this seems 2 b the answer.
Ill post the addy 4 all 2 share.
Once again.........thanks Aeroe http://www.nivelvirtual.net/downloads/?id=152

I got the same error message about needing the mp3 ACM codec. But in my case I've already got Windows Media Player 6.4.09.1124 installed, and WMP plays the .wav file fine.

What is the codec from WMP that WinAmp should be recognizing?

Thanks in advance.

(Using WinAmp 2.78 under Windows 2000).

just fyi, if you are getting an ACM mp3 error on the wav files just change the extension to mp3 from wav. It should play fine in winamp.

Further to this post, WMP shows the file to be using the MPEG-3 Level Decoder as a filter, but no codecs in use. It's version 1.5, build 50, by Fraunhofer. Is this built into WMP and not accessible to WinAmp?

Jay --

Thanks for the suggestion about changing the file extension from .wav to .mp3. Plays now in WinAmp.

But still, how to get it to play .wav in the future?

Thanks.

well wav is just a container, not a format, so when you change the extension to mp3 the player no longer has to guess what the file is encoded in. My guess is Winamp is not able to open the MP3 decoder in your Audio Codec Manager, either it's just not there or it can only be opened by certain programs like WMP.

Its a strange thing...all these codecs and things u sometimes need to play a song or whatever. All I know is..I did a format and when I tried to play all my wavs again, none worked. That Nimbo Codec which is posted in 1 of my earlier posts did the job and I can now play them all again on winamp. Thanks again to Aeroe who suggested it.
Im also sure it will/has helped me out with other problems as it has not just 1, but heaps of codecs in one 9MB download.
Happy rockin ppl.
