ummmm dexter, what are you doing? shouldn't everyone in the dev. group decide upon this, rather than you taking it into your charge to move the thread.

i think moving it will lose many users, as they won't know where to find it.

(speaking of which, downloads have increased ten-fold since wa3.0 was released).

BesigedB: i would, but you can't edit posts after like 120 minutes or so.

perhaps we can just have a mod change the post every update (not too often).

peace

or just edit it once to a filename that's the same on all versions...

that way, the top link will always be the latest version, no matter what the filename says..

eeeh??

Where have you been all the time?
Wa3 has had Wa2 skin support for a looooooooong time, but it's VERY basic and lacks ALOT of stuff..

Our converter WILL make a 100% conversion including ALL Winamp2 skin features + even more!

I seriously doubt that Nullsoft will improve their own wa2 skin loader that much.

I'm really sorry man but you'll have to wait..
There is a beta version of the template, but it has HUGE problems with Winamp3 bugs so it won't work good at all unless you know EXACTLY how to use it and prevent the bugs from crashing it..

The bugs that are left are out of my hands, nothing I can do about..
I just hope that most of them are solved in the next Wa3 version..
The most serious one anyway..

If so, then I might be able to help ya out, but for now, sorry...

How to use this converter? I insert the *.wsz file, but can't fill any words in "Output filename".

i think i'll be writing a tutorial on how to use it OR be making it easier to use.

you just goto the File menu and click Select Skin. that will fill in the appropriate boxes

Yes, I do so, then Input Filename Box will show the *.wsz file in. After that, I still can not fill any words into Output Filename Box, so where is the output file going?

after selecting a file, the Output filename box should fill in automatically.

try converting the skin. at some point the box will be filled in.

there is release date in sight! i mean, we could release a fully working version w/o all of our special features we're adding, but we decided that it would be better to wait until later versions of WA3 that supported our features again.

plus, you want the converted skins to be kickass, and not just bleh don't you?

hey.. this is bizzy on Rean's comp...

the templat will not be out for #488 because of all the feature bugs in winamp 3 its self... as soon as these bugs are fixed (hopefully soon) e will release a new template.zip...

but at the min work has stoped as plague has the only up to date template, and he's gone offline for a few days to re-set-up his pc

so we must wait for him to come back before work can start back up on the template...

btw...

liquid... are u interested in making template.wac??? email me (bizzy) for more info on what i wanna atempt to do

i still dont see why we can't just release a version that works with Wa3 final, and that's all it does. we can add the new features to the template as future Wa3 versions support them. but, that's up to you and plague i guess...

bizzy, sure, let me know what you want to do

wel.. before we start any work on it.. i wanna find otu if a wa2 style playlist is possible...

the main and eq shouldnt be to difficult...

and for the SS (yes we should do a SS to make it better that STD wa2skinload.wac) it shouldnt be to difficult to port ur ss code to c++

we should try to figure out ways of (even if we have to cheat) to implement asmany (as close to all) wa2 features as we can..

and as for the template.zip... it would be too much messin about to do it for #488 and. i KNOW we would get.. how come it doesnt do this, it did it in beta 3 version...

Let Me Know

what is the "SS"?

let me know what the plan is, i'm ready to begin.

also, i'm building a WA3 -> WA2 converter into the program, for skins that were converted to WA3 using our program, they can be rolled back.

well, i think we can easily (relatively) convert the screenshot code to c++, as it is just windows api

i'm still in the dark on this. will the .wac convert skins from within WA3 itself? that'd rock

would be cool if we get screen shot to show it where normal skinshots show when ur changin skin

btw... any ideas ur self?

i think it would be great to do that (the screenshot thing).

also, it would use the skin template right? that will add some cool features to the converted skin too, which will rock

as for my ideas, hmmm....i think i will have more after my c++ class is over. and more skill with which to work on the wac

i'll be thinking about it, but until the template is done, the project appears to be dead in the water...

Hey guys!!!

Long time no seen!
I'm sorry for beeing offline the last week and a half, but I've been moving to another city and it took alot longer then I expected and I still haven't gotten my new connection so I'm currently on a crappy modem and won't be online too often for the next few days..

ok, now when that's done, to the point..

I've had a converter.wac idea for quite a while, liquid knows about it, that I've been meaning to begin coding with him, but well, there hasn't been any time for it...

BUT!, I have collected some neat ideas on how to make an ultra leet converter that would actually work in the template.wal itself!!!
no wac needed!
only thing the wac would be needed for is converting vis and eq vis values and some other similar stuff the wal can't convert, and creating the screenshot..

Adil and Neko both know what I'm getting at here, skinnable skins...
As it's possible to make a skin have separate skins and since all wa2 skins have the same shape and stuff, it would work really good and it would be pretty easy to make a submenu which lists all .wsz files..

Now, I don't know exactly how to make this skinswitching engine, but I was hoping that Neko would like to contribute to this project with his already finished engine, as it would fit in perfectly here..

what ya'll think about this?

put the .wal file into your winamp3/skins folder, then run winamp3 and select the skin, although it may not work just yet

Oh comon the built in support for wa2 skins isn't that bad the only thing that most people will notice is the playlist editor and the fact that it doesn't support all of the wa2 skins.

methinks d_dawg_647 is a nullsoft spy...perhaps Justin returned from his sobatacle (i hear he's been MIA lately from the NSIS forum).

of course, the builtin support will be better in time, but so will this project. our goal is to provide users a choise, not to really compete with the actual winamp3 (yeah right, like we could )

i use it in collapsed mode, with the playlist bar active also so i can see whats playing. it looks kinda odd if the skins dont match
