why ?

In holland its popular 2, ever since the first version came out,
why ?

- its easy to use
- its free (of course)
- and its not mircosoft (thats very imp.)

but they have to improve version 3 as there are 2 many problems with it.

I removed it and reinstalled 2.80 again .

But i like the new version the sound and visualizations were prefect. If it only played audio cd's

I don't know if my friends use it, but I've mentioned it during some coversations once in a while...

A very close Japanese friend I knew a while ago once said to me "Watashi no koto wo oboeta, onegai shimasu...Yakusoku?"

I forgot his name though...

A lot of people around here are ignorant and use whatever comes with their computers (WiMP). But the intelligent ones use Winamp.

Hey, no one mentioned Canada!

Well, Winamp is quite popular in Canada and is growing in popularity quite rapidly in Italy.

True story: Last time I was in Italy (I think it was 1998-9), I went to their equivalent of Radio Shack, and there was a computer on display. So like me, I went up to it to see what was on the computer and low and behold was Winamp playing a 16 hour playlist. It had the base skin though.

"Welcome to the Island of people who know too much."..."Did you really think balloons would stop him?!"
See what I'm listening too.

Most of the people here in Alabama don`t know what Winamp is. They use that little player in Napster still. Why? Because they don`t even know what folder their mp3`s are in.

I think that by a good estimate of how popular winamp is in the world is to look at the number of ppl on the forums that are from certain areas. Not without bias, but I think it gives you a good idea. For example there are a lot of people from the United States, a good number from Canada (woo hoo!) and a lot from United Kingdom (also woo hoo) and quite a few from various other European countries and other places in the world too.

I'm a Winamp evangelist, if I find anyone not using it I force them to download it

I should burn it to a 80mm cd and keep in my pocket, lol

If you visit the Winamp3 and tech support forums, you'll get a good idea of the geographic distribution of Winamp.

I remember seeing a user from Egypt once, so that covers every continent on the planet except Antarctica.

George W. Bush?

who the hell ... ?
Winamp3 isn't catching on at all. boo.
"Winamp" is a common household name in the places where I've lived. (NYC, NJ, VA/DC) It's somewhat uncommon that I come across a person who hasn't heard of it before. I know of no one who uses WA3 and very few who still use WA2. It's interesting to talk to those who *just* discovered it.
"Dude, there is this awesome audio player I want you to check out. It can play audio files called mp3s on your computer." "Oh yeah, what's it called?" "Winamp"
OMFG, where WERE these people when the "mp3 revolution" struck? Were they lost in a cave? Lost at sea? Asleep? Wearing diapers? (oh boy, that one is probably true)

Insomniac7891, I feel sorry for those who still use Napster to play their mp3s. ha, if they only had half a brain and the patience to learn. /sighs

all work and no play makes jack a dull boy
