Media Library not finding all of my MP3s

So here i am, downloading winamp 3 thinking that the media library will be really cool and helpful, just after dicovering that functionality in windows media player (which i would like to avoid using for.... obvious reasons). But then, after i add all of my MP3s to the library it doesn't recognise all of the mp3s i have. recently i ripped a few CDs (like 7) with windows media player into WMA format. these files will not come up in the search no matter what i do, even adding them one by one. and it won't find all of my MP3s for certain artists for reasons unknown (not id3 tag abscence, these are CDs i ripped personally)... it'll find a few of them, but not all, and it's frustrating. what's even more baffling is that it has the right number of files, but doesn't show some of them. my only conclusion is that it is unable to parse WMA info, which seems prepostrous. oh well.

Similar Problems

I have noticed the same thing on my music collection (3000 songs, all ripped by me with perfect id3 and id3v2 tags)

Say, I select the Album, American Beauty
It pulls up 6 songs... Now I look in the folder, and see that it should have 10 songs... all tagged "American Beauty"

So I have media player search for one of the songs that is missing, and it finds it.

Now when I select "American Beauty" the 6 songs that were already there AND the one i just found appear.

All the mp3s are there, but the categorization doesn't seem to crosslink the files correctly. Now, having it find every missing song, is, of course out of the question, but this might help someone discover the bug.

I think Winamp3 rocks, despite this problem, and realize that, like everything, it is a work in progress

Daniel

PS
Well, i just tried it out again, and it is workign perfectly... i have no clue why the bug was happening before, but i guess it fixed itself

I have a collection of 7000+ and am finding the same when sorting by genre... one will show 900 or some other number when theres well over 3000.... if I double click on the specific genre it will find a few more of them and click again and a few more... and on and on and eventually it will find them all... this thing is close, just a bug I hope is worked out. Also it will not keep setting as they were when it is closed, each time its open you have to re-sort everything and such.

I thing your mp3's have to have an ID3v1 or ID3v2 tag on them.
in order for it to pick it up.

yep, and mine do.... both v1 and, thanks to a handy tool, v2...
now that i got them all in the media library they are staying in there! and when I add more to a directory I just have to "rescan" the directory and it is finding the new ones. It was the initial adding of them that I had this problem.
