Another Naming Problem - Media Library

hi

in the album name window, the names of albums in track ID3v1 or 2 tags appear. i find, that alot of the time, if winamp3 detects an album, it will appear in the album name window, but if you delete or rename the songs from these albums, the album name will still remain there in the window - no matter how mny time you re-detect all you tracks. any way of getting rid of album names in the album window????

hope that made some sense

Lightbulb Reset Doesn't Work

I've had the same problem. If you add a file and want to rename the file or change the ID3 tag, the changes to the artist or album don't appear in the "All Media" area but do appear in the "Audio Tracks" area of the Media Library.

Reset appears to have no effect on this problem.

Maybe right-click and select "Remove info from media library"?

Try Again

Your suggestion only works to remove a file from the media library; that's not the problem. The problem is that, even if I remove every single file entry from the library, the "All Media" tab still shows artists and albums that are not tied to files and therefore cannot be removed (reset doesn't work either). In the "Audio Files" section they disappear but I have yet to find a way to remove them from the "All Media" section.

This happens to me to, there's no way of deleting the Artists or the respective Albuns (you can right-click under these). Hope this get's corrected it's really annoying, after some time my library becomes full of useless entries.

I have the exact same problem, and I hate it with the fire of a thousand suns.

Another, equally annoying problem: Sometimes, for no particular reason, the Media Library only recognizes a few songs from a particular album when there are (in the most annoying case), 43 songs on the album. The only thing that works is using "Sort by [blank]" a few times -- every time I do a song or two is added to the list, until after about 20 tries i've got all of them. Any idea what's happening?

Thanks!

Actually, I've ended up with the same problem. I renamed all my "The Smashing Pumpkins" files to "Smashing Pumpkins, The", and now it has both listed under Artists, even though there aren't any with the original artist.

Send a message via ICQ to ArbytheGreat
Just delete everthing in the /winamp3/db/ directory, and reload it.

Pain in the ass for now, but it will work.

Yeah, I was tempted to do that, but I chickened out...deleting database files by hand can be scary.

I just downloaded Winamp 3 today, and ran into this problem 5 minutes later. The media library thing is really useful IF they could implement it properly.

The "all media" listing in the media library is never updated. I think it takes something liek 2 lines of code to correct this. Hope they do it....

Also, someone mentioned that

I seem to have the exact opposite problem. Some album listings are screwed up. They list everything in the library, whether it is 'audio' or 'all media'. It seems to be happening only for album names starting with a ' " ' (thats a quote). For example, the album '"trainspotting" soundtrack' lists EVERY file in my library!!! Pretty darn annoying!!!!
