SHOUTcast keeps disconnecting, what's wrong?
My station is working great, everything streams really good, but 1 problem. I leave my station online streaming overnight or something, then I go and check on the stream to see that it has disconnected and keeps attempting to connect. It won't connect it all, even if I click the connect button myself, I have to manually restart WinAmp and click connect to get it to start streaming again, does anything know what's wrong? Note: I have the server and I stream my station, so I have control over settings on both things if I need to.
By the way this is happening it's like there might be an idle thing or something, because overnight no one usually connects to my station, I just want my station to stream 24/7. Does anyone know what I need to do to solve my problem? |

i have the same problem sometimes, but what i do is close winamp and or the server, then restart it, and it works again, lately though i have been running my station (SCR: Sonic Club Radio) on Windows 2000 Advanced Server and haven't had 1 problem with it stopping or freezing up unless someone is configuring my server remotely in a way that causes SHOUTcast to disconnect. I found out that Windows 2000 is the much better system to run stations and servers on, especially on slow computers, my SHOUTcast and server computer is only 300mhz, but everything works great, actually, even though it's so slow, people compliment on how good my server is, my station buffers fast and everything. If your running on a operating system that is slow then you should get Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and I recommend that the computer is treated as a Web Server like not used for personal use, the kind of computer that sits there and you come back to it and check on it or maintain it once in a while. However you doing this though just closing winamp and the server then opening the programs again should fix the problem, if this is a server type PC (like i said, treated as one) then make sure lots of un-needed programs aren't starting up that slow you down.
