new jukebox!/!?!?!?!?!

I'm considering making Winamp my music organizer/player. I've been using MusicMatch, but am dissatified w/ lack of udates and the $20 I gotta fork out to update. Why is winamp so good and what do you have to say about the rants people have about the crashes and incompatability problems?

Good. Another convert. Yeah, I love Winamp too. I try and stay away from the bitches about Winamp3. It's just getting old. fast. Anyway, welcome to the forums.

Winamp 3 isnt quite right yet, stick with 2.80 untill the 3.01 version comes out. It works but it isnt bug free and run's slower than expected. other than that it's fully operational

Winamp stays the hell outta your way and just plays audio files like a good little media player.

Music Match is a pain in the ass...

Correction: the latest WA2 is 2.81

In my opinion though, the great value of Winamp is not something you can immediatly explain, you have to try it out and then fall in love with it.

Yeah man, I used to think Winamp was for wimps until I tried it out and now I can't really explain why I love it. I just do. But there's one thing I'd really like to see in future WA3 releases. Although Musicmatch came with it, it would be nice for Winamp and is just kinda neat. There could be a display of the album cover that would be associated with the right songs. Maybe a more complete ID3v2 tag. An example of what I mean can be seen in RealJukebox (yes the rest of Real sucks, but there are good things). And maybe tag lookup like the CDDB. MoodlOgic claims to have it, but I hate MoodLogic and you have to pay and I cant even find that feature in there.
