the 35 minute drive sucks... this morning i missed my english class cause a SUV flipped over on I20 and we sat there for like 2 hours not moving at all.
i dont know what i wanna major in yet... i like comptuers but cant do math... any suggestions?... i kinda think i'd like psychology or something like that.

I agree with what lemon chicken said about gifted classes. I believe that it's important for children to go to school for the social aspect. It's really a time for people to learn how to interact with all sorts (one reason why I don't believe in all girl or all boy schools either). There are certainly ways you can suppliment your children's education. I was never really challenged by the school system either, especially in my junior high school years, so my mom and I would often sit down and she'd teach me genetics, anatomy etc from books that she bought. She also gave me the opportunities in high school to work in her research lab with one of the grad students. Gave me a significant advantage when I went to university.

One major concern I have with homeschooling in upper years is exposure to things such as science labs and specialized teachers. This is not really too much of a concern until high school. Trying to teach high school chemistry at home would be okay in theory, but certainly it would be difficult to conduct lab experiments unless you had a home lab.

I guess what I say is that I would keep them in the public school system, but try to get them into an honours sort of program and suppliment their education at home as well.
