Am I losing my mind?!

Before I ran the Winamp3 Updater, there was an option somewhere where I could enable/disable crossfading within a playlist. Where did that option go?

For directsound crossfading, you have to open preferences (Ctrl-P), select the DirectSound treeitem on the left. Then use your keyboard's right arrow button to expand the tree to show "Fading" and "Status display" beneath DirectSound. It's weird, but the tree doesn't have the little + and - signs yet. That'll get fixed eventually.
