I need help!!
So I followed all the directions and tried to make a skin of mine own... and when I zip it all up, change the extension to .wsz and put in the skins... I get nothing but the base skin when I select my skin that i've made! what's the deal. The only thing that changed were the vis. area and the colors of the playlist (because of the txt. file.) Yet when I check the other files, even the Main.bmp and others, they are my images, but they won't show up... what's going on? did anyone experience this when they first started skinning? Can anyone help?

from what you told it should work fine, but there are a number of things that could have gone wrong.
take all the bmp's and put them in a separate folder in your skins folder, then select it as a skin in winamp, if that works something probably went wrong with the zipping, and you'll have rezip the files if you still get the base skin there's something wrong with the bmp's, check if all the names are correct and that they are bmp files |

ok
Ok I'll try to change some stuff around... but from what you know, is there any specific settings I need to save the bmp's as in Photoshop... i.e. no transparacy, windows or OS, and all that other garbage?

don't know if it matters what specific settings you use, BMP's don't have many settings to begin with, but when I save BMP's I always save it in fileformat: windows, but that's just cause that's the default setting

right...
Right... well this is really weird... cause actually, it is using ONE of my images... the playpaus.bmp one... I can see it... but that is the ONLY one... so weird... I did all the others just like that. I tried what you said too.. to just put it all in a folder... still didn't work, so i don't think it was the zipping. strange. well thanks for your help... guess I gotta just figure this out on my own.

figured it out
Well I figured it out... it seems that, while using photoshop, when I saved the bmp's, there are a few settings you can choose from... one is either in Windows format or OS/2 format...that wasn't screwing me up though. At the bottom of that little window it said, COMPRESS (RE) and I had had that checked... which for some reason was making it think it was 32bit, and it needed to be saved as 8 bit. So I got it to work... no worries, but thank you all for your help.
