Static when playing divx movies

I know the topic has been posted before, I searched for it.
But unfortunately the solutions offered through that search....

Updating Divx to 5.02
installing the winamp3 patch

...didnt work.

I Also tried unsinstalling divx and then reinstalling it, It tried removing winamp and reinstalling it.

I'm running windows 2000 service pack three and would appreciate any help.

Well I guess I cant be helped.
Maybe I'll check out winamp 4 when its released.
