LAN broadcast synchronization
Hi All,
I've setup a Shoutcast server at work for the agents out on the floor. The first issue I am noticing is that there are synchronization problems. When multiple people connect, the music coming from each PC is unsynchronized (i.e. each one is playing a bit out of synch from the other). I understand this is due to the nature of streaming audio and the fact that it gets buffered on each persons PC. However, since each machine on the floor and the Shoutcast server are all connected to the same network switch, is there any way to change the default buffering settings to improve this situation? We want multiple agents to be able to listen simultaneously without the "echo" effect. Regards, Snips |

nope, the only thing you might be able to do is go back to an earlier version of shoutcast, however versions before the buffer was added are vulnerable to attack.

Hi Jay,
Since we will only be using this shoutcast server on our internal network, I don't think attacks is a major concern. There are several firewalls in place that would protect us from this sort of thing. How can I go about getting an older version of the Shoutcast server? Snips |
